Hi Linda,
Please evaluate my profile and help me with my selection of business schools.
I am 26 this year and hope to start MBA in fall 2006.
I am currently in my final year of my Phd in one of the prestigious university in UK. When i graduated from my bachelor degree, i was awarded the Best Student in term of academic performance.(We dont have GPA system here but my average is above 80)
I actively involved in various societies and was president to some socities. I have some working experiences but not much (about half a year) because i went straight to do doctorate after my bachelor.
I took GMAT this month and scored 730 (Q49, V40). English is not my native language but i knew 3 languages and 4 chinese dialects. I am currently working on French and Japanese.
My research is in electronic engineering but i wish to be more involve in finance studies in MBA. ( as i realise i have strong interest in finance)
I am thinking of sudying in UK but i wish to know whether i stand a chance for US universities.
Please give me some advise..

Andy,

if you could work in the financial field for 1-2 years, you would be a strong candidate at top MBA programs. But without relevant work experience, I am afraid that you will appear to be a "degree collector" andyour chances would be poor at US MBA programs.

Thanks for your honest reply. I would consider that!! How about LBS ?? I am thinking of applying to LBS.. do I need substantial working experience ?
Actually,i had been working in campus as a tutor for two years (i forgot to include in my last post)

Regarding LBS, Yes.

The tutoring is nice experience and it does count, but it will not make you competitive with those who have been working in investmetn banking and financial analysis for the last X years.
