it would also be neat if the "profile" button next to our posts would lead to the profile post. I often find myself reading a post and thinking "Who IS this guy?" If we get a lot of profile posts, sorting them and finding the person you're looking for would be a pain.

Also, do you all want those of us old-timers who are still lurking to add our profiles?

sharp comment. I will check with our developer to see how this can be implemented.

Not everyone will have a profile in there, so we probably have to go with something like a "Applicant Profile" button in addition to the regular profile button.

If user aaudetat == author and forum == member profiles, then display "applicant profile" button.

Absolutely. We especially want our cool friends from 2007 to include their profile.

We are working on limited access to members who have 100 or more posts. For what its worth, this will also ensure a fairly high level of privacy.

Can you all also post five favorite threads in your respective profiles?

It will form another layer of finding the most useful information

Aww.. dont be disappointed so quickly.

GMAT Club was not built in a day. You should have seen the website during the early days of 2003. What you see now is a painfully slow five year evolution driven by some amazing people. What you guys are doing is designed keeping the future in mind.

I think that people from "other seasons" should start first, the idea is for statistics, isn't it? I fell a little intimitated to put my stats for instance, as my profile is very easy to track within the application process. So the other schools can find for what other schools I'm applying to.

My "problem" is not that big as I'm applying only for schools "at the same level", but imagine if you have an easyly trackable profile and you're applying to 3 M/ and a "safe bet"... Then you might be in trouble, right?

Just my worthless 2 cents. I'll put my profile though, just give me some more days

Thats the reason for the minimum post count...trust me my profile is about as easy to figure out as anyones. Then again my avatar gives a pretty clear idea too.

Posting my profile obviously didn't have a negative affect on my decision outcome. Not too long after I posted mine I got accepted to Kellogg...so maybe posting my profile is good luck.

If everyone else wants good luck, post your profile.

Re: Need your help with member profiles [#permalink]
Also, let me apologize for not coordinating this with Praetorian, but most of the people who have posted their profiles in the forum have public copies of those profiles in the Wiki. If you are unsure, click your name at the left of the post to check. Me and dzyubam have done the copying pretty much assuming that by posting a profile to the forum the people agreed to a public disclosure of information.

If you do not want the information to be public, delete the relevant page or let me know and I will.

Re: Need your help with member profiles [#permalink]
I'm fine with what's in my wiki, but I plan on using the profile thread under my name to discuss more about my experiences, thoughts, and maybe answer questions. those are things I don't plan on putting on the wiki and probably do not want random guests or new members to browse through. Tino, check my suggestion with the "karma" points system. That could be our solution.
