Expert's post
Dear GMAT Club Members,

We are introducing new posting rules to the Math Forums (General Forum, DS Subforum and the PS Subforum) that are aimed to reduce the number of short posts that often carry zero value.

As a part of this effort, we will have several changes and new policies:

1. Please do NOT post short posts such as "A" or "+1" or "Thank you". Please consider using the Kudos button instead or using the timer, which will track your answer choice. If you want to be subscribed to the topic and that's the reason for your reply, please using the "subscribe topic" link
2. Short posts will be flagged and users will be warned
3. Starting today, Feb 1, 2012, the Forum will issue a warning to you (automatically) when you make a post that the forum considers too short or not valuable. You will be able to dismiss this warning but please keep in mind the next point.
4. Regularly, we will have a robot go through the forums and delete posts that we have deemed too short or zero value
5. We will also delete all posts made prior to Feb 1, 2012 (all the way from 2002) and will delete all those that are too short or have no value.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post here or PM me.

Hi,

A very good initiative it will save time for the readers. Just a suggestion you also avoid members to post the same thing again & again no matter in different form with the same conclusion.
As at many answers contain the same answers but in different ways resulting in n no. of posts for a single question / query.

Regards
Sanjiv

I must say a great initiative
i want to share my opinion on these rules
If somebody is practicising just for the heck of it, the timer or the kudos will be the best option,,it's really annoying when we read a discussion full of IMO or +1( short answers)
active participation will not only give much insight to the poster but also generate interest for the fellow clubbers to comment upon it.
must say a great initiative by bb.

I am happy to report that we have started the cleansing process.

A few hours ago we have deleted 6,700+ posts from the DS forum, mostly the super short ones that did not have any value.

PS and the main quant forums are next.
