Next step for a bachelor student? [#permalink] New post 14 Apr 2012, 06:17
Dear GMATclub members,

I am currently taking my Bachelor in Economics/Finance in a Europeen country,
aiming at working in an international firm within banking/finance.
I am 21 years old without any work experience and I have been thinking
what the next logical step would be for me.

I would very much like to study in the United States, but unfortunately
there are some differences between how higher studies in Europe and
USA are designed, most importantly U.S Bachelors are 4 years (3 years in
Europe) and Ph.D:s are rather common, unlike in Europe where you study
3 + 2 years (bachelor + master) and where Ph.D:s are fairly rare .
This leads to less focus on Master programs in Finance in the U.S.
and instead something like:
4 years Bachelor -> Work -> MBA (please correct me if im wrong).

With my non-existing work experience I could hardly be
accepted to a MBA program so what would be the next
logical step for me? All input are very much appreciated.

4 years Bachelor -> Work -> MBA This is the right way to go.
Get some work experience before jumping into MBA.

You can either take the needed programs that you lack as a post grad, or as the answer below declares, work toward acquiring a experts level. But the programs needed to be able to pass the state examinations and undergraduate shows are in the bachelor’s level world. They are not graduate undergraduate programs. I did this and it was about 42 hours for another education document in British and sociology. The methods sessions were important.
