lengthy presidential campaign process is more truly egalitarian than the compressed process advocated by some. It allows little-known candidates with limited funds to invest time instead of money, thereby making themselves known in the small states.
Which of the following statements most directly contradicts the argument above for a lengthy campaign?
C) An excessively long presidential campaign deadens public interest in the workings of democracy.
E)A lengthy campaign discourages many potential candidates who are not wealthy enough to leave private jobs for long periods of time.
