Clearly E ,as delays to other planes taking off will set a chain reaction and hence further delays to flights of northern airlines .

This is OG question, right? I think, it's better not to post OG questions (especially in the question of the day section) unless there is some confusion about the answer because all people are having access to OG. If we are posting the question from different sources, we are going to get benefitted more. Answer is clearly E.

(A) The Skybus would enable Northern Air to schedule direct flights to destinations that currently require stops for refueling. Would be advantage for the company.
(B) Aviation fuel is projected to decline in price over the next several years. Out of scope.
(C) The fuel efficiency of the Skybus would enable Northern Air to eliminate refueling at some of its destinations, but several mechanics would lose their jobs. Who cares? Out of scope.
(D) None of Northern Air’s competitors that use Belleville Airport are considering buying Skybuses. Who cares about the competitors? Out of scope.
(E) The aerodynamic design of the Skybus causes turbulence behind it when taking off that forces other planes on the runway to delay their takeoffs. Makes sense. This will add to even further delays for everyone, including the company in questions.

Hence answer is E.

Which of the following, if true, could present the most serious disadvantage for Northern Air in replacing its large planes with Skybuses?

(A) The Skybus would enable Northern Air to schedule direct flights to destinations that currently require stops for refueling.
(B) Aviation fuel is projected to decline in price over the next several years.

This passage tries to make the readers' thoughts wander away from those supposedly trivial facts mentioned in the passage that are actually pivotal for answering the question in hand. Shrewd!!

In this case:
The focus was more on the economic issues.

But, the answer relates to the trivial facts that deal with congestion and turnaround time.

Northern Air has dozens of flights daily into and out of Belleville Airport, which is highly congested.

The use of Skybus is going to cause further congestion in the runway traffic, a situation that would not only delay flights of other airlines, but also of its own by causing a rippled delay, for Northern Air would have many other flights waiting for takeoff lined-up behind. This scenario will surely hamper its object of faster turnaround time.

Ans: "E"

E it is. SkyBus are introduced to reduce costs and save time. Any option that shows if any of these will go in opposite direction is our answer...

By going with the Skybus design, Northern air is aiming to increase economy of it's planes.

A) This is an advantage
B) This would be advantageous - increasing economic value of it's skybuses
C) Mechanics losing their jobs are beneficial in terms of increasing it's economy.
D) doesn't have any impact on turn around time.
E) The jet impacts the turn around time... this could be a disadvantage.

E is correct answer. A and B actually helps strengthen the decision to buy the new airplane while C and D are not related to the argument.

I would go with the answer E

A: Supports
B: Supports
C: Supports + Out of Scope
D: Out of Scope
E: Weakens

The above question is asking us to Weaken the conclusion, hence E is the answer

Northern Air has dozens of flights daily into and out of Belleville Airport, which is highly congested. Northern Air depends for its success on economy and quick turnaround and consequently is planning to replace its large planes with Skybuses, the novel aerodynamic design of which is extremely fuel efficient. The Skybus’ fuel efficiency results in both lower fuel costs and reduced time spent refueling.

Which of the following, if true, could present the most serious disadvantage for Northern Air in replacing its large planes with Skybuses?

(A) The Skybus would enable Northern Air to schedule direct flights to destinations that currently require stops for refueling. not a disadvantage
(B) Aviation fuel is projected to decline in price over the next several years. it is an advantage which fill support the decision
(C) The fuel efficiency of the Skybus would enable Northern Air to eliminate refueling at some of its destinations, but several mechanics would lose their jobs. well its a disadvantage for the employees but not for Northern Air.
(D) None of Northern Air’s competitors that use Belleville Airport are considering buying Skybuses. The premise provided supports advantage for Northern Air and the Airport, this reason does not negate the decision
(E) The aerodynamic design of the Skybus causes turbulence behind it when taking off that forces other planes on the runway to delay their takeoffs. The phenomenon will delay other flights and in a holistic fashion delay overall turn around time, thus will prove to be a disadvantage.
