Re: NTU or UNC. Please advice [#permalink]
I am myself applying for schools but if I were you I would definitely go for UNC for two reasons:-

1) Its in usa-amazing country to study in with great job prospects.
2) much more reputed as compared to NTU

Feel happy and lucky to be in such a dilemma :):):):)

Yes, UNC is better. I will have to take a loan of about 60% and H1B is a major concern as well. It will be very difficult to pay the loan if I have to come back to India.

I will try to propose something that might be a good plan or a risk. It depends on a lot of factors but at least I try to brainstorm.

You will take a loan equals to $90K to attend UNC. Try to look the range of salaries to jobs that you might land on. Look to the range of salaries. If you spend some the annual income. Could this help you to save some money, in case you will return to your country after OPT period? can you continue pay the rest of the loan when you get a job in your country. It depends on assumption that you will get job after graduation and how much you can save.

I hope this proposal can help you or at least you develop it to meaningful plan.

I wish you success.

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply. I am from India and here the pacakges are less as compared to US. In orde to pay the loan I need H1B post MBA. Otherwise I am gone.

I am also planning for $90K loan. But since H1B is a lottery so its risky.

what about taking loan from India itself? Some countries provide its students with loans. It may be easier if you return one day there to pay with Rupee.

Just a thought.

Rate of interest is the same. But a job post mba in India will be close to $2500 US per month ( on the higher side). With this package I wont be able to pay the loans. really appriciate your time. How is NTU? I know it is not in the same league as UNC

NTU or UNC. Please advice [#permalink]
NTU is considered good but not on par with National university of Singapore from education of learning and electives. I was in contact with admission office. To be honest, I did not like their electives. They are poor and limited compared to other school in the US or National Uni. Their placement rates is not that high and I agreed with you on harsh job market in Singapore.
