Guys forget about what they say on the NYU website -- it's 99.9% marketing materials (propaganda) anyway. If you look at the way the people posted on this board, the earliest ones who received an acceptance letter are the guys with the 700+ gmat scores, then it's the 690's guys, last week we had an 680 guy who got accepted. Meanwhile, the 600 with 3.4 guy got waitlisted, and so did a 650 with a 3.0 guy. Then there's the rest of us -- the 620-670's with 3.0-3.5 group. I think it's pretty obvious how adcom is approaching this -- figure out the distribution curve for all applicants according to GMAT and gpa, accept the guys on top, reject those who don't qualify, waitlist the border line guys, and then work your way down from the top. And honestly, I don't see why they would do it any other way. My guess is that the 670 guys will get accepted this week, or the 690 guys who is missing some of their application forms / materials when they handed in their applications.

great analysis on your part - thanks for that..seems logical...i just spoke to the NYU folks and she said folks who applied early might NOT be reviewed on a rolling basis since "you know, there are human errors - so your app could be in a different pile"...i applied on april 2 so i was like where the hell is my response...nonetheless she also assured that anyone with right creditials will make it in even if they submitted on May 15. After May 15 - its on a space-available basis....

per your theory - being a 690 guy with a missing doc (which was not actually missing)...i should hear this week....

FWIW, I'm a 690 3.3 Grad GPA guy with no missing materials, and not a peep outta them since I submitted my app on May 14...

Racoon, if you have the right work experience, I'm sure you'll be in. I think adcom had to make some kind of efforts to at least make it appear that "applications are reviewed in the order received....".

Thanks wilson, I have around 2 years work ex, in a couple of Big/Intl' Companies, in IT. Fingers and toes crossed like everyone else on here...

It seems like many people on here are from an IT background. Is anyone else not from an IT or Finance type background. I dont come from IT nor Finance field. Anyone know what the tally is in the database now?

Not IT, no clue what the tally is. I imagine close to 300.

Checkitout may come through with the numbers.


I am not sure ow many they will admit. The adcom person I spoke with mentioned something in the 300s. That seemed a little low based upon historical numbers but that is what she said.

Navy-

It shows on your profile that you are targeting some other schools also. Have you heard back from those yet? And are you doing part time in those schools too? You have a tremendous set of numbers and qualities. If you dont get accepted, then theres very little hope for all of us.

Another reasonable theory is that the first round of offers went out, and they are given a few weeks to send in a deposit. Out of those offers, depending on how many people decides not to accept the offer, then they clear up spots for those in waiting of decisions. I'm sure not all the offers has gone out yet. but I'm assuming a large chunk of space is already reserved.

Well I just got word a few minutes ago.

I got in!

710/2.92 GPA/ 5 years W/E in the Navy.

Strong Leadership

I am going to the Washington Sq. Weekend Option.

The sweat was due to a low gpa and I wasn't sure that my essays were on target.

I will give you an update on the number of admittees when I figure out the website.
