I just got my first notification today. So now, I'll be maniacally checking my e-mail for any status updates. Oh, my poor Blackberry will be ruined by the summer's end.

My understanding of the review process is that if you submitted your application on or before May 15th, you will hear something by early August (I believe August 2nd). If you submit after, you might hear something later or even not at all. On a side note, NYU's website is still accepting applications for the Fall PT program on a space available basis.

What is everyone doing with their "free time" post-applying?

Is this a different email than application submission confirmation that you got with the link to check status?

I guess just going back to work with fingers crossed post applying.

That's the e-mail I'm talking about. Guess I glorified it by denoting it as an initial notification mail, huh?

I have not received that email yet and I do not have a blackberry, I guess that is a good thing so that I cannot check status like crazy.

I have been reading posts from previous years to kill my time and anxiety. I really hope this thread could get rolling too.

I submitted my app at 9:30 pm 15th may lol.. no matter how hard i try cannot get out of old habbits like - last minute crazy rush - heheheh sometimes i think the rush is probably the best part of applications!!!!
UKYO: you should have received the initial email since i got mine within minutes after i submitted. i think u shld wait fr a day or so and call the admissions office.

Anything interesting you found out so far?

Regarding the email you might want to check your junk / trash folder.

I learned that the weekend option, the only option I applied to, is the most competitive program and very hard to get in. Looks like this battle is not an easy one.

Did any one find a source that broke down the admissions by program such as number of students admitted into weeknight versus week end program at each campus? All I see is that the total number of part time students. This could be many things first year plus second year plus students in both campuses and students who moved from one program into other.

I wonder if there is a break out by admit. Also any statistic showing the drop outs from first year to second year.

that stats would be a good one to have though i haven't had much luck finding the breakout among the 3 programs.

good luck to everyone.

My understanding is that there are 7 core groups. 1 - weekend/1 - west chester/5 - weeknight. Current students may want to confirm that. So if you have to do weekend like me, you basically limit yourself to 450/7 = 65 spots. Much less than 3xx spots for weeknights.

BTW:, I got that password email . Anyone successfully changed their password? I got errors

Interesting way to look at it UKYO. What would be pushing to know would be what percentage of the total applicants rank the weekend program higher. I assume for those who do not live around New York that is the only option. So I gotta think a good percentage of rank it higher.

I think it would be fair for the admission committee to give preference to long distance commuters for the weekend program.

Ukyo - if you're still getting errors trying to change your password, be sure that you capitalize your first & last name... I ran into that too.

GPA - 3.2 from a small liberal arts college (double major Accounting & Information Systems)
GMAT - 660 (Q45, V35)
WE - 5.5 years (Senior Accountant - major private equity fund)
EC - Volunteer for soup kitchen, organize an annual fundraiser for a non-profit
Recs - One from supervisor, one from supervisor's supervisor. I had an excellent year end performance review. So, I am hoping the recs were excellent as well.
Essays - For Essay 3, I sent a couple of objects with a couple of sentences on how each relate to my personal and professional life. For Essays 1 & 2, I did not beat around the bush. I gave succinct reasons for parttime MBA and very focused short-term and long-term goals.

Both my GPA and GMAT score are slightly lower than average. So, I am counting on recs, essays and good luck.

Good luck to all.

That is really weird. I had to capitalize the first letter of my first and last name just the way it showed up in the email from NYU and it allowed me to change my password !!!!

I think you are more than middle of the range for part time students. I think you have a very good shot at the program. Particularly I assume you are not limited to the weekend program only like many others.

Does any one know if indicating employer reimbursement helps or hurts chances of admissions.

While I think a guaranteed source of income for the university should make the candidate look more favorable, I also think that employer sponsored candidates may not compete as much as self sponsored candidates. Thereby reducing overall quality of the work accomplished. Again this is just my thoughts and I could be wrong.

I just wonder what NYU thinks or if they don't care at all.

i originally thought you guys were talking about the notification email that nyu sends to applicants that they received the application but all this stuff about changing password makes me think twice. did everyone else received another email from nyu that allows to check status and change password cause i did not.

No they were different. Check your junk/ trash folder.

The subject is "NYU Stern MBA Admissions"

For just application submission the subject is "Thank you for your application to NYU Stern"

Ukyo check that you got the last name and first name in the right boxes.

It is Last Name followed by First Name.
