Hello potential classmates,

Just putting the fine touches on all of my essays. Quick question: what has anyone heard about being frank w/regards to essays 2 and 4? For example, essay 2 asks why you want to get an MBA on a part-time basis.
Do you think it would hurt if I mention that I think the opportunity costs of foregone salary and tuition that would result from going full time would just be too much?

I'm writing essay #4 b/c I need to explain why I cannot get a recommendation letter from my direct manager. Does anyone think its wise/OK if I describe the unapproving political climate at work and the potential consequences that might result if I am discovered taking classes?

In short, in answering both essays, do you think its best to be direct and give truthful answers, or to play the game and give phony, upbeat-sounding answers?

Submitted everything last Saturday night after reviewing my essays like 100 times...OCD can set in quickly! The weird thing is that I got the application receipt email on 5/13, although the website says they won't start sending them out until after the deadline...
I'm a re-applicant from the Spring term (waitlisted until the very last day then rejected...), improved my gmat by 60 points (600 to 660, and confirmed my AWA of 6.0) and got a higher level position at my current company in the meantime...I've been really working hard on pursuing admission to Stern because that's where I really want to go.
How's everyone else doing?

Does any one know the approximate time frame when they would announce their decisions? I know the website says by August 5th.

How early do you guys think the admissions are going to be?

Based on BW forum

Last year some best candidates received their acceptance notices as early as June.

Most people were informed in July and August.

Only time will tell I guess. Did you explain the score in 4th essay? Perhaps you could retake GMAT.

I just got my first notification today. So now, I'll be maniacally checking my e-mail for any status updates. Oh, my poor Blackberry will be ruined by the summer's end.

My understanding of the review process is that if you submitted your application on or before May 15th, you will hear something by early August (I believe August 2nd). If you submit after, you might hear something later or even not at all. On a side note, NYU's website is still accepting applications for the Fall PT program on a space available basis.

What is everyone doing with their "free time" post-applying?

Is this a different email than application submission confirmation that you got with the link to check status?

I guess just going back to work with fingers crossed post applying.

That's the e-mail I'm talking about. Guess I glorified it by denoting it as an initial notification mail, huh?

I submitted my app at 9:30 pm 15th may lol.. no matter how hard i try cannot get out of old habbits like - last minute crazy rush - heheheh sometimes i think the rush is probably the best part of applications!!!!
UKYO: you should have received the initial email since i got mine within minutes after i submitted. i think u shld wait fr a day or so and call the admissions office.

I learned that the weekend option, the only option I applied to, is the most competitive program and very hard to get in. Looks like this battle is not an easy one.

Did any one find a source that broke down the admissions by program such as number of students admitted into weeknight versus week end program at each campus? All I see is that the total number of part time students. This could be many things first year plus second year plus students in both campuses and students who moved from one program into other.

I wonder if there is a break out by admit. Also any statistic showing the drop outs from first year to second year.

that stats would be a good one to have though i haven't had much luck finding the breakout among the 3 programs.

My understanding is that there are 7 core groups. 1 - weekend/1 - west chester/5 - weeknight. Current students may want to confirm that. So if you have to do weekend like me, you basically limit yourself to 450/7 = 65 spots. Much less than 3xx spots for weeknights.

BTW:, I got that password email . Anyone successfully changed their password? I got errors
