NYU Stern Langone program [#permalink] New post 26 Jan 2013, 12:35
Hi, I guess I already know the answer but I'm still taking a chance. I have a fairly reasonable work ex - 7 years in engineering, marketing and product management. I've held leadership positions in my school and have initiated a few community based programs but my GMAT score was a disaster. I took it in fall 2012 and have just not been motivated enough to take it again after the disaster.. I got a 550. Honestly I was well prepared. My test scores were in the 670-690 range but the D day was a disaster.

Do you think I stand a chance at Langone part time or I really need to take GMAT again or may be apply to Rutgers.

Please let me know :(

Thanks

The first thing you need to ask yourself is how much you want the Lagone MBA or if you just want an MBA. NYU's part-time program is one of the best and it'll carry some serious weight. That being said, you know the answer: re-take the GMAT. Getting an MBA isn't a walk in the park. The good news is since it's a part-time program, there are multiple times you can start (as opposed to the fall only option for most FT programs), so re-taking the GMAT shouldn't slow you down as much.

To illustrate, here's NYU's part-time class profile. As you can see, a 550 is well below 620, the score 10% of the entering class is below.

Good luck!

Agreed, if you were in the upper 600s on practices, I would re-take. If you have your heart set on NYU, I wouldn't give up without a fight.
