I'm sure some of you have seen this article in today's NYT already:

The gist of this article is that the compensation/bonus structure for Wall Street bankers has thus far been based on supposed profits, which (as we've seen) were hugely exaggerated. You had all of these jokers making millions each year inflating their overleveraged portfolios to unsustainable lengths, all while the (Bush-appointed) SEC was asleep at the wheel. I can't muster a lot of sympathy for the guys who are being sent packing now... here's hoping this kind of compensation for a bunch of financial hocus pocus never returns.
