odd/even question [#permalink]  04 May 2008, 12:51
At the GMAC Practice test, the answer of this question is 27, but I don't understand why (I think it is 81).
Can anyony explain why it is 27?

Even though [9] * [6] = 81, the question is looking for [x] = 81
[27] = 3*27 = 81

Look at the answer choices carefully. They are in form of [X] not X.
You got the 81 part correct because [9]*[6] = 81

But the answer choices is NOT 81 because [81] != 81

[27] = 3*27 = 81

I am sure a lot of people would fall for the trap under pressure. Just be careful...
