Question Stats:
100% (03:32) correct
0% (00:00) wrong based on 3 sessions
Of the 25 cars sold at a certain dealership yesterday, some had automatic transmission and some had anti-lock brakes. How many of the cars had a automatic transmission but not antilock brakes? (1) all of the cars that had anti-lock brakes also had an automatic transmission (2) 2 of the cars had neither automatic transmission nor anti-lock brakes I got the answer right but it took me quite a while was wondering if anyone had a suggestion of using tables, venn diagram etc?

E let A=all of the cars that had an automatic transmission.. B=all of the cars that had anti-lock brakes SI just tells us that B is a part of A...not suffi SII tells us AUB, which is set A itself is 23..not suffi combining two... still not sufficient as we require A-B

Diagram:
An NoA T ......... ___________ Auto |___|___|___| Man |___|___|___| T........|___|___|___|
-I hope that came out. If not: You need to make a box with 9 square so there are 3 rows, 3 columns. Label the columns as Antilock, No Antilock, and Total... and the rows at Automatic, Manual, and Total.
-In the bottom right cube, fill in the total of 25 cars. This was given to you. Then, plug in numbers, and sum columns and rows. Here is how mine came out for this problem while looking to see if both statements together can work.
Row 1: 23-x | x | 23 Row 2: 0 | 2 | 2 Row 3: 23-x | 2+x | 25

we prolly dont need a diagram for this, reasoning would be easier than trying to draw a diagram - IMO
