her experience in the field.

The original question does not underline problem portion. If "the" is outside the underline, which it seems, how can D be the correct answer here?

GittinGud Here we have to select among two candidates who is more qualified....Whenever comparison is between two always use COMPARITIVE form. Eg. Slower, faster.

In this question we are henceforth left with Options C and D.

Now due to vs because of. Whenever faced with such comparison golden rule is always replace due to with "Caused by" and see if the sentence makes sense. Here Of the two candidates for this government position, Joann Harald is the more qualified "Caused by" her experience in the field. This is non sensical. Hence correct answer choice is Option D

Please never forget to mention the source. If the source is not mentioned in the check list, then please take some pain and write the name of the source below the question.
ex-Source: "*********"
It will help to check the credibility of the question.
Thanks.

Bumping up this question. Can someone please explain how 'XYZ is the more qualified' correct?

Re: Of the two candidates for this government position, Joann [#permalink]
Reasons why D is correct

in this problem, "the more qualified" is correct because it actually omits the noun "candidate". The original phrase would be "the more qualified candidate".

"due to" is correct because: whenever you see "due to", try substituting it with "caused by". In this problem, experience did not cause Joanna to be more qualified. Instead, "experience" is like a characteristic of Joanna. Therefore, "because of" is used.
