Looks UCLA and Maryland didn't fair so well in their conference tourney's.....is this a wake-up call.....or a sign of things to come....stay tuned.

The UCLA loss in the first round of the Pac-10 may be a blessing in disguise. They dropped to a 2 seed and got two extra days of practice. Conveniently, as a 2 seed in the west UCLA plays all their games in Sacramento/San Jose until the final 4. Pencil these boys into your bracket!

Yeah, everyone is complaining that (once again) UCLA has all the advantages of a top seed even though they are not the #1 in their region. I wonder how Kansas feels about the possible match-up in San Jose.

The problem is that there are so few top teams out west that UCLA (and Stanford & Arizona at times) are treated like top seeds anytime they are seeded in the top 4. Great for them, but sucks for anyone that gets shipped out to play them.

I don't buy the extra rest argument though, unless there are injury issues. A 4-5 day rest is more than enough for kids that are used to playing twice per week.

I'm down, I think scoring should increase further into the rounds:

eg.

1st Round: 1 Point
2nd Round: 2 Points
3rd Round: 3 Points
4rth Round: 4 Points
Semi-Finals: 5 Points
Finals: 10 Points.

Just a thought!

GO AGGIES!!

I think the seeds should be incorporated into the scoring system to reward risk. For example, if a 12 seed wins a 3rd round game, the person should get 36 points ( 12 * 3).

I would probably go with 6 points for the championship rather than 10. If you stick with 10 it basically comes down to who can guess the champ.

Woo! Got it, and generally with more time to spare than my grad school apps. I rock. And the midwest is going to to be rockin' the tournament. (I choose my brackets based on regional predilections.)

No really any significant movement yet. The pack will start to break up once teams picked to make the sweet 16 and elite 8 start to fall. Missing on a few first round games won't do much unless you pick them to win a few more down the road.
