Perhaps its just me, but I'm going thru the questions for OG12, and I find for the first 50-60 questions, I can do them at a pace of about 2 minutes each. But beyond that, it takes me probably 3 minutes per question (I've only done PS and DS so not sure bout verbal yet).

Is anyone else finding this to be the norm, or am I just significantly behind the curve?

Because I know on the actual test, you get 2 minutes tops for each math q uestion correct? If that is the case, then I should be pretty concerned.

Thanks for the input.

If you have just begun your preps and have time ahead before taking the GMAT, you can expect to improve your speed over the time through practice.

2 mins for the initial questions is on the higher side. I'm doing OG 11, and upto first 50 to 60 questions, a speed of maximum 1 minute should be there.

But everyone is slow when they start their prep, you need to practice a lot, timing yourself each time you practice.

Learning shortcuts and easier methods of calculations, and then thoroughly practicing them so that they come spontaneously to you when u look at a problem would go very far in increasing your speed. Get your basics strong, it counts a lot when u desire speed.

However, don't loose heart, if you stress yourself to solve questions faster, you will end up working slower. Let it come to you naturally through practice.

Have you tried to get GMAT Timer?

It will whoop you into shape.
As you know, the questions in the OG are arranged in increasing order of difficulty.
You do have 75 mins for 37 questions. When you practice with the OG - make sure you use scratch paper and do it properly rather than writing in the book.
