suppose there are X motorists.

10% of them exceeded the speed limit and received the ticket, i.e. X/10.

Again, suppose total no. of motorists who exceeded the speed limit are Y.

20% of Y exceeded the speed limit but didn't received the ticket, i.e. Y/5.

it means 4Y/5 received the ticket.

hence, 4Y/5 = X/10

or Y/X=1/8

or Y/X * 100= 1/8 * 100= 12.5%

12.5....it is..

so 0.1x=0.8y where x is total no. of driver...y is no speeders...

y/x=1/8*100=12.5%

is this an overlapping set question, so we can use a table approach to solve this one? Detailed explanations would be helpful!
