I also think it should be B.
A. Unnecessary detail, it doesn't help us any to know that the containers are crushed flat. This process does not make them any more degradable.
C. Out of scope, talks about what consumers prefer to buy. This information doesn't help to ascertain which kind of plastic is more degradable.
D. Out of scope. The passage does not talk about the manufacturing process. The passage talks about the material, plastic, which is either biodegradable or not. The fact that there's less waste of biodegradable plastic, doesn't help to establish how much plastic is not degraded when a biodegradable container is used and discarded by a consumer in comparison to its non-biodegradable counterpart.
E. Once again, out of scope. We're not interested in recycling, or technological difficulties of recyclying that prevent smth. We're interested in degrading the plastic.
Hope I'm right.
