Hello all,
I am newly registered to this community.
I found a lot of useful links and explanations to math problems. Thank you for this!
Now my story. Last time I had any contact with math was 5 years ago when I was in high school.
I have recently graduated university with political science, nothing to do with math.
However I decided I want to enter in business school and I have opportunity but I need 600 points on GMAT.
600 is not that much and in the beginning I thought Quant will be my low scoring part.
I started to prepare in June and made my first attempt a week ago.
I was feeling really good, not nervous etc. Quantitative was kinda medium level for me.
Most of the problems I was sure I answered correctly. When I had doubts and no idea how to handle the problem I just guessed so I don't waste time.
Now the Verbal part ... I am not a native speaker, but I've been studying English for a lot of years. Recently had 104 on TOEFL.
But this format on GMAT is something new to me, especially the CR. The hardest part for me is actually RC. I handle SC easily.
So ... it started with easy SC questions, then CR was kinda hard and then RC ... I couldn't even understand the text. It was really hard, full of terminology and complex sentences. I tried rereading it several times, but no results ... so I had to guess the answers again. Around question 20 I started to worry about time remaining and eventually I finished with 15-20 min time left.
Of course I was disappointed at the end, but I expected a result like this. Now I'm writing this post because I need some advice.
The books I read and used are:
Kaplan Premier 2012-13
OG 12 & 13
Princeton Crack the GMAT 2012
Peterson Master the GMAT 2007
On mock exams I scored around 600-650. Never so low on Verbal. Usually around 40 on Q and 30 on V.
I think I can handle quantitative , but now I need to pay more attention to Verbal. What should I get, which books ?
Thank you in advance!
