C.

..because we need a comma after movies as in c,d & e.
D compares numbers to people - wrong

Between C & E, I prefer C

B)...we need "fewer" b/c ppl are countable. "have been" is parallel. the comparison is b/w nouns, respectively ppl.

B maintains the tense ||ism.

Only seven people this century have been killed by the great white shark, the man-eater of the movies—fewer than have been killed by bee stings.

Moreover people is countable, so fewer should be used instead of less than.

Use fewer for countable things
Use less for uncountable things

People are countable, A is wrong
C is wrong, which refers falsely to movies

I would go witih B for parallelism

C.

A and B are out. Comma is required.
D compares number with people
E uses fewer. When count is explicitly told then always use less (e.g NY is less than twenty miles form here. - Even though distance is countable, still we use less)

What is OA?

ETS always prefers fewer than over less than for countable nouns.

E. we need comma in B.

Only seven people this century have been killed by the great white shark, the man-eater of the movies, fewer than the ones killed by bee stings.

I will go with B. People is a countable noun so fewer should be used.

What is the OA?
