for the countable nouns we use fewer instead of less...so A and C are out.
"fewer than those that have bee" would have been correct in B...
i hope it helps...

A. movies—less than those [ Less than used to count uncountable objects, since number of people killed by bee stings can be countable fewer is preferred – Eliminate it]
B. movies—fewer than have been [Why to switch to have been – this sentence is only stating fact – Eliminate it]
C. movies, which is less than those [“Which” incorrectly modifying the “movies” – eliminate it]
D. movies, a number lower than the people [This sentence is incorrectly comparing number vs. the people – eliminate it]
E. movies, fewer than the ones [This is correctly comparing number of people killed by great white shark vs. bee stings – Hold it]
Answer: E

Now I would go with B because 'have been' is parallel in both clauses. B.

same here...between B and E, both seem kinda wrong and kinda right.
B is wrong because of the '-' inappropriately placed, but right because of ||lism
The perfect sentence to fill the gap is:
Only seven people this century have been killed by the great white shark, the man-eater of the movies, fewer than those that have been killed by bee stings.
