Out of ideas! [#permalink] New post 09 Jun 2012, 05:44
I took GMAT again two days ago and got a score of 640 (Q48, V29) again. I had taken my first GMAT on April 11 when I had timing issues in Quant. This time though, I didn't have any such issues. My score first time was 640 (Q42, V36). My GMATPrep and MGMAT scores have consistently been between 690 and 760 in the past month. The first time I took the GMAT, my practice test scores were consistently between 670 and 720. I am really out of ideas on what to do.

I can think of a couple of things:

1. The test is not as standardized as it claims to be and,
2. I am not a very good "actual" test-taker.

I didn't find the questions difficult. Neither was I anxious. I really don't have a clue what happened. Probably, I should have been more careful. I have an interview coming up with McCombs which is the only school I have applied to. If it doesn't work out, then I may take the GMAT again otherwise I'll give it a rest.

That sounds like a solid plan. I've heard stories where if you have a strong application but the gmat score alone is what's holding you behind, they will ask that you retake the exam to make the cut. This is assuming that your score is borderline close to what they accept. Good luck!
