Advice: I'm looking to take a class this semester at a community college to complement my application for R3 to Kellogg. I need to overcome an absence of Math classes in college (I did take Calc). Should I take Accounting, Stats, or Calculus? Or, two of them? And, if so, which two?
I may take Accounting, and then take Stats over the summer.
Definitely take Statistics and ace it. As for the other Math class, since you have already taken Calc, I think you should take Matrix algebra or Discrete Math. This will give your transcript a range of Math classes which I think would look good as opposed to taking Calc 1, 2 and 3.
I would not recommend taking a higher level math than calculus simply because it is not useful for business school. You might want to contact Kellogg and say you are thinking of taking a class which one do they recommend/prefer? I've heard some schools say they like Calc and other prefer accounting or stats. I would ask the school to be sure.
In my school, the order was pre-calc, calc 1, calc 2 then calc 3. I got through all of them, however, but with not the highest of grades =(((((
I am wondering if I should retake a couple of them just to show that I am capable of doing well in Quant courses. I duno... Seeing how many people here have such high GPAs in quant intensive majors, I question my undergrad math course grades much too often
Back on topic - I would suggest Accounting and Statistics.
