Oxford offers a one-year MBA program through the Said Business School. Although the MBA program dates to only 1996, Oxford has offered Managerial Studies since 1965 (an MPhil was offered through Templeton College before the MBA was offered). About 175 students are admitted per annum into the FT MBA.

EIU2004 ranks Oxford Said #40 worldwide, this ahead of Cambridge and Manchester and just above Georgetown, Imperial College, and Bath. This is also #7 in the UK (it is outranked by Warwick, LBS, Henley, Edinburgh, Cranfield, and Birmingham). If hypothetically transferred to the US, it would be ranked c. #26. It is outranked by all of the US UE/E schools.

FT2004 ranks Oxford Said #26 worldwide, ahead of Cambridge and Manchester and just ahead of Maryland and Carnegie Mellon. This is #2 in the UK after LBS. If hypothetically transferred to the US, it would be ranked c. #18. It outranks two of the elite schools (Michigan and UCLA).

Ave salaries at SBS [#permalink]

I am wondering about the employment report that's posted on SAID's website. Per the report, the average salary and the highest salary offered to SBS graduates is at par with or more than what LBS grads receive.

Do you believe in this? hmmmmm, what could be the reason?

This is an interesting question.

A possible explanation is that Oxford has a relatively high proportion of high experience students. The 90th percentile at Oxford (c 2002) was 37 while 90th at LBS was only 31. Several years more experience, ceteris paribus, would seem to lead to a higher post MBA initial salary.

In addition, beyond the experience, the accepted students at Oxford seems to have broadly similar academic credentials to those of the LBS students (GMAT mean c. 690).

Alternatively, the schools have different methods of compiling and reporting employment data so that the reported values are not directly comparable.
