Re: Oxford (Said) 2013 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
Hello All,

Feel free to laugh me out of this thread. But I have lately been inquiring about GPA score needed to get into a top school like Oxford. My GPA at the moment is 3.15 and I am enrolled at a Canadian University. The required GPA is 3.5 for oxford, how bad are my chances on a scale of 0 - 100? I don't want to apply for the sake of applying. What about extra-curricular activities, other designations like the CFA? Do these further my cause? I have lots more question but I will ask as I see fit. Thank you in advance for taking your time to read.

P.S. I want to apply for MSc in Financial Economics.

Hi Kwal, I'm an admit to the Said MBA program with an undergrad GPA of 3.0 from a non-target university. However, I believe my work experience made my application more competitive. I've heard that they look for great academics for the MFE program (more than the MBA), but I still think you should give it a shot. In the end, its not just about numbers but about the whole 'package' and whether they feel you are the right student they are looking for!

Great thanks for your answer, longranger!
I thought about Oxford mfe program for a long time. But is it possible for anybody without pure economics and mathematic background to go through selection process?
For example, I studied management and had no problem with mathematic, but I am really concerned with my perspectives.
And second question is quiet stupid, but ... is it true about so technical interview? Because, for example, MIT ms in finance has a pretty easy, "soft" interview, as I heard.

Does anyone has any info about total numbers of students, who accepted the Oxford offer, for MBA starting from Aug 2013? Current class size is 191.

I think they will be targetting 240-250, as per previous years.

Well, not sure what to say, the usual questions that you would expect i.e. why now, why Oxford, what can I contribute, what are my post MBA goals, what challenging situations did I master and so on.
No surprises whatsoever but I got along well with him, I think.
