I'm sitting the GMAT in 13 hours time!

I will ONLY be applying to Oxford - based on how I go tomorrow, it'll either be on October 14th (round 1), or round 2.

I've already started the application, and my referees have already submitted their recommendation.

I'm an Australian Engineer with A BEng (1st Class Honours) and an MEngSc with distinction, from two unique top Australian Universities. I have 5 years of work experience on major infrastructure projects - in design, construction, and consulting. I am currently working for a top infrastructure consultancy. I've been getting consistent yearly pay-rises and promotions. Have some decent extra-curriculars too (Rugby & active member of a Political Party)

I've been hitting between 680 and 720 on my GMAT mocks (680, 680, 700, 720) - so I'd be happy to land anywhere in that range tomorrow (or, if I bomb tomorrow and do it again in 31 days).

Would my application be competitive?

Your profile does seem to tick all the boxes. In my opinion, it is strong on both the main evaluation point(i.e.) Academics and Professional experience (both depth & variety). The challenge now is to work on bringing out all of these in the essays along with any Extra-curricular & volunteering activities that you may have done (Keep in mind that these two also play a big role in the whole admission process). On the GMAT front you are on the average for the course which is roughly 700.

On the whole your application does look strong. But, keep in mind that there are a lot of other factors that the Ad Com may take into consideration which you or I may not be privy to.

Good luck for your tomorrow's GMAT test.

Just out of curiosity: Is there any particular reason due to which you are only applying to Oxford? Most applicants these days (me included) seem to apply to a few more colleges to hedge their bets..

Just hit a Q48 (80th %) V37 (81st %) - 700 (90th %)! I feel like I did well on the AWA too :)

I'm only applying to Oxford because I am still young (25), and I won't be upset if I don't get accepted this year. All I ever wanted to do is go to Oxford - the history, the heritage, everything - no other place will do. Also, I've had 7 years of tertiary education, and don't want to spend 2 years getting an MBA - I'd rather do it in 1. If I got acceptance from HBS, Wharton, and Said, I'd go to Said without thinking.

Is anyone else facing problems getting into the http://www.sbs.ox.ac.uk/ website? I keep getting an error message!
edit: It is not a problem with my computer alone. All other websites seem to work fine. And I also tried accessing the website from my friends laptop to no avail.

It was happening since yesterday but after couple of refreshes it started working. Hopefully by now you would have gone past it . If not just keep on trying every 10 mins. It shouldn't be down for much time.

So I just got back a very quick response from Oxford. They are experiencing problems with the Said business school website and the IT team is on it. But the school website can be bypassed and this link - https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=ox-sbs can be used to access the online application directly.

Hope this helps.

All the best!!

Umm, where did you get this information from?
The Said business school website and the application portal both still show 14 October 2011 as the R1 deadline.

Reading past threads in this forum, it looks like last year invites started going out 1 day before the deadline. So I think we are looking at Nov 3rd. Agony! :)

Any interview invites? Does Said send all the invites on the same day (4 Nov)?

Thanks!
