Oxygen.18 is a heavier-than-normal isotope of oxygen. In a rain cloud, water molecules containing oxygen-18 are rarer than water molecules containing normal oxygen. But in rainfall, a higher proportion of all water molecules containing oxygen-18 than of all water molecules containing ordinary oxygen descends to earth. When the clouds reach the Amazon and it starts raining, the Oxygen-18 content must decrease, since Oxygen-18 desends in higher proportion. But, the scientist observed otherwise. So, there must be something that increases the Oxygen-18 content in the clouds.
Option B clearly gives an explanation how this can be possible.
I don't understand how C could possibly explain the increase in Oxygen-18.
The statement -
" In a rain cloud, water molecules containing oxygen-18 are rarer than water molecules containing normal oxygen"
clearly supports A.
As for C,
"But in rainfall, a higher proportion of all water molecules containing oxygen-18 than of all water molecules containing ordinary oxygen descends to earth. "
The premises says "descends to earth" is that same as " rainfall contains more Oxygen-18" ?
I think only A is directly supported by the premises. But, this is a tough question.
