Re: Ask Cambridge (Judge) Admissions [#permalink]
Hello,

I am 31/Indian/Male (I know most competitive pool but I am bit different - I am not from IT/telecom ), have graduated from one of top 10 colleges in India, I am working with a leading MNC in India, have 9+ years of experience in Sales and Marketing - Consumer durables, I have been promoted to youngest Regional Manager at the age of 29 in my current company. I am enthusiastic, goal-oriented and optimistic individual and I want to pursue MBA to enter global consumer market. Though I have dozens of applauds, promotions and community service initiatives under my belt, my current GMAT score of 640 raises doubts in my mind of applying to Cambridge. I wish to know with my current score, shall I apply to one year full time MBA at Notre da Cambridge? I want to make sure that my application will be read and not discarded just because of low score.

As a matter of policy, we do not give individual assessment of candidates unless they have submitted a complete application. This is because there is more to a candidate than just a GMAT score, undergrad GPA or what you can see in a CV. You can read more about how we read an application on my blog
https://www.thecambridgembaadmissions.co ... rare-find/

Your GMAT of 640 is on the low end but as I said in my blog, that should not discourage you from applying if you feel that the other aspects of your application are strong.

All the best.

Hi,

I have a question about the following essays of Judge:

What are the key issues facing organisations in your sector over the next three years? What course of action would you recommend to such organisations? (300 words)

I have to write about the key issues facing organisations in my sector in my country or in general?

Thank you very much.

Dear Sir,

I am a prospective Indian female student with a GMAT score of 640. I have 8 yrs. experience in a leading PSU bank in India as a Dy. Mgr. and a short span as a cabin crew in Air India. My academics and extra-curricular is not very appealing. I have good recommendations from my seniors, though not immediate ones. Do i stand any chance of getting selected for your institute?

We do not assess any candidate until they submit a formal application. This is because of the large number of applications that we receive. Was there a specific area that you were concerned about?

Hi ,
Do 30+ applicants have better chance of getting past the admission process ? Right now , as I want to work in US , will Cambridge MBA be of much help ? I would be working on H1b in Boston , and parallely intend to do a part-time masters from Tufts/BU-MET/Northeastern Univ or some other university. Will , a graduate degree from these schools give me an advantage in terms of gaining admission to Judge MBA ?

@thisiszico2006

Age doesn't come into the admissions equation --- it is what you have accomplished that we are looking for.

In terms of whether a Cambridge MBA, or any MBA for that matter, can help you work in the US, you should really be thinking about how far can your present experience go to help you make a transition into your desired career. If your current work experience is reasonably compelling to a would-be employer (and you can always check this by asking employers in your desired sector/geography for a CV assessment) and it is just the lack of knowledge that is holding you back, then an MBA would be the right choice. An MBA is not a magic passport that will get you a dream job.

Kind regards

Hi,

Had couple of queries regarding references:

does the Peer reference has to be someone who can talk about my current work or can be one with whom I was associated during early phase of my professional career as well?

Is a recent Peer and Supervisor reference more preferred?

Regards

Hi Conrad,

A quick question regarding the format of my CV—I know you ask that it be submitted using the template posted, but I don't see a particular section suitable for extracurricular activities. Would it be OK to create a new heading under "Additional Information"? and also include extracurricular activities completed in school under the Education section?

Thank you for your guidance.

Regarding the CV, I would like to know whether a 2-page CV is OK?

@trueLie

Please use the standard CV template. As a matter of good practice, you should also condense your CV into one page as most recruiters don't read past the first page anyway.

Yes, you can have an additional section but please keep within the one-page limit.

Ideally, your references should be people who know you well enough to be able to write at length about your work accomplishments and how you work in teams. We do accept references from previous jobs.
