Re: 2012 LBS MiF Applicants welcome! [#permalink]
hi igemonster, sorry for being unclear. ~30% of all applicants are shortlisted for the interview = interviewed. Out of them ~70% are made the offer out of which ~85% accept the offer or defer.

MIF LBS ADMISSION STATISTICS FROM VARIOUS SOURCES:

Total Applicants: ~700 (mentioned here @ gmatclub)
Interviewed: ~30% (by Morgane Fores, AdCom member in reply to my email)
Made the offer: ~70% of the interviewed (by Peter Johnson @ Apr 7, 2008)
Accepted the offer: ~85% of those made the offer (by Peter Johnson @ Apr 7, 2008)
Class size: ~125 (116 in 2011 intake)

sorry if obvious but is Interviewed=Invited for Interview ? i.e. were 70% of applicants not invited for an interview, or is the 30% the already interviewed running total of those offered a chat, with the rest waiting to meet their interviewers ?

Congratulations, AnacottSteel :) I think with the portal login admitted students can communicate easily. Once you get it, can you please update us how many students are already in, just for curiosity. Jan 27th is the R2 deadline, approximately 40% of the class should be already identified...

Agrashan, you had quite a strange interview, so probably it's still worthy to ask for and give the feedback...

I'm still in the waiting mode, my interviewer decided to go to the business trip till Feb 5th, so I'm now waiting for another interviewer's details - uh!

As I understood from MBA fellows, portal allows you to see who's in the class already, what are their background, etc. Should be very interesting! Also, I wonder when the commitment fee is due - when the official offer comes or after the offer email? how much time passes between the two? and how you can survive till August? ;)

Well, according to the website the process is as follows:
Payment (full-time format): If you are offered a place on the full-time format of the Masters in Finance you will be asked to pay a commitment fee of £1,250 about four weeks after the offer, and a second installment of 30% of the total fees about eight weeks after the offer. The balance will be due in early September 2012.
--> I guess the arrival of the official letter which is sent to your home address marks t0. From there on it should be 4 weeks.

Thanks Laman!

However, am on the older side of the age spectrum - don't know how Adcom will see that. Also, hope they are convinced by why I want to do an MIF at this stage of my career.

All the best for your interview!

Typically, how much time does it take for someone to get an interview email after submitting the application?

it's very different for each applicant. For example I got my shortlist email 20 days after submission, 10 days ahead of the official deadline, there are people who got it much earlier (i know R3 applicant who got interview invite in the middle of Dec, way before even application deadline). The good thing that there is a true chance to get the response earlier than indicated @ the website...

I'm finally done with my interview! It lasted 1.5 hours, as mentioned earlier, looking more like a friendly conversation. My interviewer was a 2010 alumni. Interestingly, he mentioned that he has a specific set of questions which shool asked to clarify with me, among them were questions about family support and low gmat score. He tried to understand details of my work, making me explain specifics of the industry i work for (planning & performance management in the oild & gas). Another interesting question was what do i think about relationship between Azerbaijan and Turkey and Azerbaijan and Iran, unexpected one. Why MiF, why LBS, which alternatives were as expected there. Honestly I have quite a good impression, didn't feel any really bad parts... he mentioned that school asked to submit feedback till wednesday so probably i could have my answer this thursday... fingers crossed! and good luck to those who're applying :)

p.s. he mentioned that during last couple of years school changed the policy regarding selection process. if before they were seeking for academicly perfect candidates with high scores, now they have tendency to shift to people with professional achievements... he also had around 660-680 GMAT.
