Re: Cornell (Johnson) 2012 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
I have an application question.
In the employment section, the form asks for "Hours per month". This question is preceded by "Number Supervised". Now are they looking for Hours/month of supervision? Or hours/month in your job?
Help is greatly appreciated..

Received an Interview Invite!! Finally!

Just when I'd given up all hopes! :-D

Got a mail with the subject line "Johnson Invite to Interview". But the status on the apply yourself portal still shows "Currently Under Review".

Will it take sometime before it gets updated on the portal?

Did they send you a confirmation that they received your application before inviting you to interview?

Yesterday I received an email from Johnson with the subject "Johnson Admissions - Application Under Review"

In summary, it just said they received all my application materials. I was wondering whether you received the same thing before getting an interview invite.

Everybody gets this email. The good thing about it though is that it explains why you still haven't received an invite because nobody gets an invite before getting this email.

WOW IT took that long for an invite? I just got my "Application Under Review" email yesterday.

I am a consortium applicant and I sent my application last 01/05. Are you a Consortium applicant?

Numerous people who submitted the same time I did already received their invitation. I hope I receive mine soon. I feel you man, the wait is killing me too. I am stuck in my gmail and I barely even check my work email now  Thanks and good luck in your interview!

Actually some consortium applicants reported getting this email along with an invite (yes, they get invites right away)

But it is nice to know some people get this confirmation email first before they are sent an invitation to interview.

Nah! I'm a Regular R2 applicant. For Regular R2 applicants, the wait is typically huge(probably 'cos of vacations and all).. More so for international applicants. I saw this pattern in last year's Johnson thread too. Keep up your hopes! You'll receive an invite soon!

Strange. I guess this only applies to non-Consortium applicants then.

Well gablaze is consortium, and a few other consortium applicants got them, just not me...

probably just a small error if everyone but me got one, I'm guessing its not a big deal though.

I put hours worked at my job overall. Although I did put 0 for # supervised since most of my team management varies by project and I dont have any full time direct reports... I think adcom just wants to get an idea of your time commitment and responsibility level at your organization. Or reach out to adcom... They're actually super nice and extremely willing to help. Good luck!

IMO supervision seems like a weird thing to quantitate in hours. Technically, every hour I worked in a management position was spent supervising.
so:
Hours spent supervising = Hours worked
so if it were me, then I would just put my number of hours worked per month ~173

In your case i'm assuming you only spent part of your time supervising, (or you wouldnt have asked in the first place). If this section asks for your FT and PT work, then I would put total hours per month.
if this section of the app is for FT work only, then put hours of supervision only, (since they will assume 170 hours)...

but like i said, just my guess, I hope I explained that clear enough, let me know...

Thank you iamvolitant and cunit2k5.
Yes, i do not have full time staff working for me, although i do manage a project where i supervise 2 employees. That was my dilemma. In the end, i reported the number of hours i spend on that individual project.

Thanks again.. Kudos are due...
