Hi,
This looks like a helpful forum from
accepted.com. I have recently decided to pursue an MBA. I will be applying for 2013 and will get in my apps for early decision by Oct 2012.
Could you please evaluate my profile for a top 10 school. Preferably a top 5 school and please suggest what I should be focusing on from now till October to help build my profile better.
Education:
--BS. Electrical Engineering (2007) 3.67 GPA NJIT
--MS. Electrical Engineering (2009) 3.65 GPA NJIT
Research experience:
--During college I did 3 award winning research projects and led one of them. Not sure how much merit that holds here..
Work Experience:
--2007 to 2010 - Worked at Citigroup in their rotational Technical Associate Training program. (got a highly selective award)
--2010 - current - I work as a Project Manager at BNP Paribas corp investment bank
--4 internships during college
GMAT: Will take in April - Currently taking a 9 week prep-course. (I expect to be around 700)
Volunteer work:
--Currently work as a civil rights educator (bullying prevention) for a non-profit law firm. I go around different high schools and talk to students / give presentations
--Educator/counselor at a summer camp for kids (once a year for a week)
--Held several leadership roles in college student orgs.
I am looking to add another volunteer experience in the next few weeks.. something a little more substantial.
So given the above, what are some things I should be focusing on (besides getting a great GMAT score) to have a great application for a top 5 or top 10 school?
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
