I tryed that strategy with RC and didn't work very well.. so...

I believe the answer to this is D.

Oberlin was not a renegade as a result of its decision, but was a renegade by the very action of its decision.

"Bill was certainly impolite in deciding to skip the dinner to be held in honor of his mentor".

In addition, c implies that Oberlin was founded "for its decision".

I'm not sure but as far as I recall its idiom problem and the right one is "renegade at". Can somebody confirm?
