Hello waxer, thanks for your question.

It’s hard to say. I think since admissions committee people tend to do this for a living, they have a much better idea than the average person about the characteristics of individual undergraduate programs – it’s their stock in trade, so to speak.

That said, no one is infallible. And, if your school is smaller and does not have a widespread reputation, then you might find a place in your application to notate the information you’d like the adcom to have. Or, include some language in one of your essays!
