Please advise me. thanks in advance. And what programs can i apply for pursuing ms in finance? and what are its future prospects.I would give a thought of doing phd at a later stage if everything goes well.
Hi Piyush,
I would suggest you to first get a clear understanding of what you want to do, following the MBA. Your experience is in the IT industry, and you have not mentioned if you have any exposure to finance (through projects) and if you do, how extensive it is.
It will be hard to explain your move to finance related jobs unless you already have some exposure to the work there and can build it into your career goals.
Additionally, MS in Fin. is a specialization, whereas an MBA is a general management degree. In the MBA, you will also study Finance and will have the option of taking related electives or doing a concentration. An Ms in Fin. will give you a narrow focus, but will be more suited if you want to remain in the finance industry. So weigh your options according to what your desired career goals are and then make this deceion.
Best,
Namita
