I had a feedback session. The comments were mainly that I was a solid candidate, but like many other solid candidates in R2 they just didn't have room. They recommended mandarin lessons (which I took). I also spent 4 of the last 8 months working abroad, including in China, which certainly helped my case this year.

Hey everyone,
I'm applying to R2 this year - Feb 2nd.
A quick question is that the starting time is July 15th, 2012 - is this an early module for CEIBS or it's the regular starting time?

Hi,

July 15th,2012 is the start date for actual MBA course. June 15th for optional Mandarin course.

Hey Aviroop, Can you please shed more light on why you decided to forgo your admit...as I have to make this decision as well...I have been granted 50% scholarship at CEIBS but my process for INSEAD is going ahead as well..and I have to give....So to be honest I am confused.....

My background is in financial consulting. The main reason for me to do an mba is to move into finance - especially in investment management or in PE/VC. CEIBS is not a finance school. It is strong in consulting and general management but finance is not its forte. Since I am not too keen to go into strategy consulting/general management roles, I decided not to go ahead with the offer.

Hi Guys,

I am just curious about the Mandarin/English language course that would start a month before the actual session... I am confused wether I should take this course or just take a Mandarin Language course in my country before I come for the MBA session.

BTW....At the moment..I do not know anything about Mandarin...

Would really appreciate any advice or comments!!!

Round 3 applicant here. Got admitted in late April. I applied to several schools in China (Fudan, BiMBA, and Tsinghua as well). I visited Fudan. I chose CEIBS over the listed schools. I couldn't visit Beijing and I never been there, so my decision has a bit of 'gamble' risk to it. Nonetheless, I have been to Shanghai several times and I consider it my next home :)

My background: I will take the pre-course Mandarin next month. My Mandarin casual conversation is very good. I can type pinyin and read characters a lot more than listening, which is something I need to develop. My career background is in sales (5 years) for a manufacturing company in the US. I got a 650 in GMAT.

Anyways, to those that have matriculated to the school, I look forward seeing you all there.
