Heard from the Adcom June 6 and was honored to get in (applied R3). However, I wasn't awarded any $ and I have a significant fellowship to a 20-30 school. Wouldn't even normally consider a school with no fellowship since money is a big consideration for me. But UCLA long-term loans with no US co-signer.
Do you guys think taking out a loan would be worth it? I'm very very happy already actually, but I can't ignore that UCLA has a higher ranking and that my dream company recruits there.
Would appreciate any advice. :)

R3 waitlist for me. Congrats to those who got in!

evigirl - It's easy to say in theory that the long-term career should more than offset the difference in financial aid, but when you are staring at a tens of thousands of dollars difference, it becomes a very real and personal decision. If I were you, I would follow-up with Anderson to see what kind of loan package you would be eligible for and then calculate the total cost difference between UCLA and ND. That should help you make an informed decision, at least. Great problem to have though! Wish you the best.

For the Rd. 2 waitlisters that got the April 4th letter again:

It was not an error that the letter was not updated. I called admissions today and they said this just means we are still on the wait list. There is no timeline but adcom will "revisit the list as spots become available."

I don't know about that... google US news MBA FINANCE rankings. UCLA is in the top 10 and Tuck isn't anywhere close.

plus would you really pass up sunny southern california for hanover?

If I understand correctly, Eli Credit Union provides cosigner free loans uptol 50% of the total cost at UCLA Anderson. So if you can figure out the rest (outside loan options, personal funds etc) funding will work for you (many students I talked to do exatly this).

I know fellowships have been somewhat tighter this year at Anderson(at least when I talked to some of my fellow admits), but when I saw the list of companies that came to recruit at Anderson and also looking at the overall reputation of the business school internationally, I felt the investment was definitely worth it. Having said that, I do believe its a very personal decision. Good luck!!

In the email from the Wait-list Manager it said that they will possibly admit more applicants in July and/or August

Sure, in terms of Finance, UCLA Anderson ranks higher. But in terms of General Management or Private Equity, Tuck's ranking would definitely be better.

In addition, Tuck's community is close-knit and very helpful. I like Tuck's people a lot after the application process.
