Were there extenuating circumstances that contributed to the low GPA?

I should have elaborated on the low GPA..

1. Half way into my program I realized its not something I wanted to pursue a career in.. but didnt wanna start all over so completed the degree.. got my first job through it but within the first year made the switch to project management. The transcript does demonstrate that since my gpa for computer science courses is much lower compared to my other courses (which includes bunch of B+ and A's in quant courses)

2. Because of financial constraints I was working part-time during the fall and winter semesters... and full time during the summer so that I could pay for my education.

3. I was just not focused during my undergrad but have amended my ways (which I would like to demonstrate through steady career progress and additional certifications.)


Are you getting A's in your certificate classes?
Yes.. I can demonstrate through transcript for my process management courses that I am getting A's

Linda, I was hoping to offset the low GPA concern through the optional essay (without sounding like I am making excuses) and 700+ gmat score.
And, I asked about top 10 because the combination of IT, Project Management and Business experience in public service would put me in a smaller pool of applicants.. wouldn it?
