How long before the R1 Wait lists hear about admissions?
And what are the odds of a wait-listed applicant receiving scholarship?
Thanks in advance!

Hello!

I have two questions:

1. Is it absolutely essential for a non-native english speaker to take TOEFL/ IELTS?
2. I couldn't find information on Emerging MArkets Club at Johnson? Is there a club dedicated to Emerging Markets?

Hi,

I'm not sure if I am writing this on the right thread. I applied in Round 3 (25 Jan 2012) and still waiting for the reply. Can anyone help me with dates when the result is expected to come?

Thanks

Hi Marcia/Johnson Adcom
Though I know that Adcom will look at the overall application, I was wondering whether a GMAT testing history of 640 (Q40/V36), 640(Q42/V38), 710(Q42/V45), with more or less consistent 60% scores in Quant would be an almost automatic reason for disqualification at Johnson. I'm a healthcare analyst with a large consulting firm, so I have demonstrated quant skills at work, but otherwise my undergrad quant scores are low too.

Again, I realize that the overall application is considered, but does that score history sound like a big deal-breaker?

Regards
A.

For preparation in applying for the Fall 2013 start, are there any Cornell prospective student events in addition to the regular class visit and tour. Thinking on the line of diversity conference, prospective student preview weekend, or entrepreneurship conference events. A few schools have 2 or 3 day events that allow the prospective student to really see into the events, alumni, and faculty through these unique events.

Thanks!

Re: Ask Cornell (Johnson) Admissions [#permalink]
Dear Johnson Adcom Team,

I have a rare situation that I would like to get clarity on. I am applying to Johnson this upcoming Fall. I have a Professional Science Master's Degree from San Jose State University in California. The special thing about PSM degrees is that it incorporates many MBA courses in its curriculum. For my degree at SJSU, I have taken both lab/science courses as well as MBA courses offered by SJSU business school. (examples include marketing management, operation and supply chain management, organizational behavior. about 5 total).
My questions are:

1. will my degree impact my admission chances negatively? My friend said that a MBA for me maybe redundant considering the training I received in those MBA courses at SJSU
2. if #1 = Yes, should I try to explain in my essay why it would be helpful to get an MBA on top of the training I received from my PSM degree at San Jose State?

I thank you so much for your response! I have not been able to get a straight answer from anyone because PSM degrees are still rare.

Hi,
I am willing to enroll for a 2013 admit and have already started preparing for the GMAT, have wrote a couple of mocks and the minimum I scored was 740
If all goes well I expect to score around 750-760 in the GMAT
I have around 4 years of work experience in the human resource domain have worked in consulting as well as core HR roles such as learning and development, comp & benefit etc.
My query is I am very much interested in opting for an MBA from Cornell but not sure whether MILR would be a better option or not
I am interested in an MBA with concentration on human resources and strategic management and aiming for a post MBA career in the same, more in the consulting domain of HR
Can you please let me know which one will benefit me in the long run or should I try for the MBA/MILR option of dual degree
As an international applicant is it advisable to apply for the MILR program in case I would like to come back to my country of origin
What kind of scholarship options are available for international candidates for the MILR program

My Profile
B.A.LL.B ( Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws ) GPA 3.5
Work Ex almost 4 years
Loads of ECs and Community Service

TIA

Hi Cornell Team,

I will be applying for 2013 Sept batch and hope to send my best application.

I would like to know if someone with strong undergrad and a tough post grad clubbed with unique experiences of investment banking and micro-finance/social impact funding but an average GMAT score of say 650 will be looked down upon?

Does coming from an over represented pool of Indians but no engineering and IT background help? I have a BA in Economics from one of India's oldest economics colleges and a masters from a top British university along with the work experience mentioned above. I have significant experience in front end M&A and private equity advisory and managerial experience as a principal manager of strategy and new initiatives with a big Indian micro-finance firm.

I think Cornell is a good fit with its recent focus on social entrepreneurship (my long term future goal). Hoping to get your views on my profile and the hurdles i might face.'

Thank you for taking the time out to reply. Appreciate it.

Regards

Hello,

I am an IT professional working full time, with 9 years of expereince, latest role being of a Change Manager.
Given my work experience, I am interested in pursuing the 1 year accelerated MBA program at Cornell. However having an undergrad degree, am I still eligible for the 1 year accelerated MBA or is it strictly for those who have an advanced degree?

Thanks!
