What is the best play on submitting P1 for the interview slot? Is it to submit earlier to make sure you don't get waived (i assume getting waived is bad?) Also, could you just mitigate any risk of getting waived by submitting later, but for on campus?

I see two options:
1) Submit this week for a local interview
2) Submit anytime for an on campus interview

If someone can help answer my questions and verify these options, it would be greatly appreciated. Not sure if I should apply now, b/c my promotion can come in any time in the next 2 to 6 weeks; am waiting in case it happens prior to the deadline.

Pearls of wisdom anybody?

It does not matter. Getting waived is not a bad thing. You could submit Part 1 the day the application goes live and still receive an interview waiver. All an interview waiver means is that they currently do not have an alum available to interview you. In order to not hold up the review of your application (Kellogg does not start reading your app until the interview is complete) they waive the interview requirement so they can begin reading your app. If after reading your application they want to know more about you (which is normally the case) they will invite you to interview.

Here's my view on interview waivers. Are they nerve wracking? Yes. However, receiving a waiver is probably the only way to get some indication of how the admissions team is feeling about your application. If you don't receive an interview invite you pretty much know it's game over. However, if you do receive the invite you at least know that your application was strong enough to warrant further review. For people who either interview on campus or do not receive a waiver for the off campus interview they really have no signals as to where they might stand until the decision is rendered. Hope this helps.

I would apply this week. If you get the promotion, I believe you can contact the adcom to make an update to the app.

I'm officially in for Round 1. Just submitted the Part-I of the application (requesting an off-campus interview). Good luck to everyone who will be submitting their first part of the application in the next 40 hours!

Reapplicant - Submitted both Part 1 and Part 2 of my application on Sunday. Only Part 1 is due by tomorrow (Sep 19th) but I had completed my essays so thought why not submit Part 2 as well. My recommender will take his time to submit though, although he is flying off on work next week for 2-3 weeks, so I think he too should be done by end of this week.

All the best to everyone!

Hey str1der,

best of luck for your application this season.

Thanks Popat - I hope it brings success unlike last year.

Didn't you join Kellogg this year? I thought you got in? If you did, your profile is showing some weird apps (Kellogg MMM '14, and Kellogg MMM '15) so I thought I'd check.

That was fast. I guess they can really do that much faster and easier for Interviews within the US than other countries, especially India.

Hi guys I submitted part 1 yesterday. I've just got the last 25 word essay to write and then I'll be submitting part 2.

Anyone know how long it generally takes to get an off campus interview?

It only took me like a week. I emailed my contact but haven't heard anything yet. I'll give her a call and if I don't hear form her follow up with the adcom.

Thanks pyarapopat. What I'm trying to figure out is whether they will be asked on the online form to paste five individual answers (one for each question), or just upload a standard letter-style document.

Five individual answers will be my best guess (preferably with examples in each case)

My recommender informed me, after submitting my recommendation, that he had to put everything in one page and upload it. No space to paste responses
