Sloan 2013 (MIT) - Calling All Applicants

Update...now after passing through verification the error reads "merchant has been cancelled"... come on MIT, did someone forget to pay the bill ?

One more update in case anyone is still trying to pay... just got all the way through (and received an email receipt of payment -- definitely saving that one)! Payment website still seems a little wonky (graphics are error-ing out, etc.) but the security encryption is there and it is processing payment. Yay!

I had the same issue. Tried several times and finally got through. Hit submit only once after entering the security words and wait for 10-15 minutes. The payment page should load. Then wait another 5 after submitting the payment. I received the confirmation email before the confirmation screen even loaded. Good luck!

Same here, on my twentieth attempt it went through. Had to wait over ten minutes in the reCaptcha screen and then ten more after submitting payment. Didn't get an email though... Got confirmation from application status

I had the same issues with submitting my application fee as well (running IE9). The "reCaptcha" security feature would not accept my repeated and careful entries (continually received the "Error retrieving merchant data for merchant 'mit_sloan_ssm'" message).

I finally switched to Firefox and it accepted my security entry just fine. However, after entering my credit card info, it did take a few minutes before the payment confirmation page finally displayed.

Got the confirmation emails and am now good to go. Best of luck to everyone!

my page crashed after I made the payment. So I paid three times. After my third payment, I finally reached to the electronic signature page and got my appplication submitted.

looking forward to all this pain in the butt stuff.

For those that did multimedia - how do you upload to a private link and share with them?

I don't want to put my video on the open on youtube or something!

Hey man -- u can upload to youtube and in the settings chooose "unlisted" on your video. That means the video won't show up in search and can only be accessed with the private link you provide.

Woke up early this morning to try the payment gateway and everything worked fine. Submitted!

I submitted my app earlier this morning.

It is interesting to watch the recently uploaded videos by searching for "sloan" on youtube. A rare chance to see the competition. They are very good. Good luck to us all.

did you guys sign your cover letter?

I don't know if should waste my time with this - scanning back in, possibly compromising the appearance etc...

I did...but I have an electronic .png of my signature that I made awhile ago...photoshopped/translucent background...for work documents. It's pretty easy/quick if you have photoshop. Just sign a piece of paper, take a photo of your signature with an iphone, magic wand your signature onto a translucent background and it's done. you have a png that you can add to any document.

I just called the admissions office to ask about the payment problem. They said not to worry, that their vendor is experiencing trouble due to the high volume of applicants and that I wouldn't be penalized if my application is submitted after the 3pm deadline today. She was very nice, took my name, and apologized for the trouble.

Also saw the thread about regarding youtube videos, you can easily hide the video from others being able to view it by selecting "unlisted" in settings.

I am literally waiting for the two word verification to process (been going for like 10 minutes).

Some of these videos are nuts!
