Twice actually. Each with different, but similar, content. Anyone else have this happen?

I got the email twice as well. but the content seems the same to me. However, I haven't done a line by line comparison. I just deleted the first email and am considering the 2nd one as the most up to date message.

I really liked the "Oscar" supplemental video though

Actually I realized that the "My Life in Numbers" video is for the MFin. And the MFin supplement essay doesn't have a time max.

All quiet on the western front. Anyone know how many applications MIT expects during round 1?

They probably get 2-3 thousand since they only have 2 rounds...

Re: Sloan 2013 (MIT) - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
I think they get about 4700 for both rounds, I recall an interview that said that for every seat there were 12 applicants, so if the class is 394 people, it comes to be around that. I do think I have also heard that R1 has way less applicants than R2, so there may be some strategic advantage to applying on R1 merely on the fact that they dont know how the applicant pool looks like yet, so they may wait list you or favor you if you have an unusual background. In R2, they pretty much know everything by then.

Sigh... Keeping my fingers crossed, if I dont get admitted this year, I will just quit the whole graduate school thing and start my own business. Everyone keeps telling me to forget about b-school, but I keep telling them to mind their own f-in business. I do feel that they may be right sometimes and I am wrong to keep pursuing this, so this may even be a good theme for an essay on how I learned from my mistakes for the next application cycle.... yikes! :-D

according to fortune, acceptance rate is 13% (in 2010 or 11) . https://money.cnn.com/galleries/2011/pf/ ... une/6.html

So if you were to back into this number (750 students in a class/.13), the number comes out to be 5,770 applicants per year. So cut it in half and you are looking at 2900. If you want to argue there is less in round 1 (probably valid), then split it 2,500 in round 1 and 3500 in round 2.

Re: Sloan 2013 (MIT) - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
Class size = ~400
Yield = 67% (ref: https://www.businessweek.com/bschools/ra ... sloan.html)

Therefore, acceptances = ~600

Acceptance rate = 13% (again, https://www.businessweek.com/bschools/ra ... sloan.html)

Therefore, applications = ~4615

I personally know someone who is a Sloan '14 who was told by the adcom that they typically receive twice as many applications in R2, so figure ~1500 for R1 and ~3000 in R2.

Looks like last year, a little over 4100 applied. I wonder whether the number will drop below 4000 this year considering the downward trend since the economic slump. :)

Like only ten times a day :!: But I live in Massachusetts, so I have to rely on the view counter and it has been stuck at one number from the 24th!

Good suggestion.

I just checked the analytics on my video. There about 9 views from Massachusetts. They might have looked at my application.
But who knows, the video is public and there are also about 8 views California. ( I am not from either of those states)

Maybe Stanford and MIT are sharing their apps :-D

If called for an interview, will this have to be completed before the holidays? I just thought about their timeline and the email said that mid december would be when we can expect them to roll out.

I'm pretty sure interviews were held into at least the beginning to middle of January last year. I'm sure we'll get a better sense of the timeline once invites start rolling out.

I saw some analysis on applicant numbers for R1. If there is any truth to it I feel little better but at the same time MIT Sloan has very objective admission process. They rank applicants on 0-10 scale for 9 different traits. I have faith in their process. I have a good feeling about this app.
