Question for all the round 1 applicants...

When approaching essay 1, did you break the essay up by answering question A, then B, then C, or did you incorporate all three questions into one flowing essay? Not sure it matters either way but am curious to see how other applicants approached this. Appreciate any responses

I did mine all as one essay with all three parts blended in. Im more curious how many people write an essay for essay 3 vs video/powerpoint. I have to imagine adcoms look more favoribly on non written. Any current students able to weigh in on that?

I didn't include any reference to the sub-questions in my essays. In fact, I didn't even answer them in the A-B-C order. I think the point is to have a nice, flowing essay that answers all three questions.

I submitted a creative piece. As far as I know, they do favour such submissions over an additional essay. They don't want to read another essay, that's why they ask for something creative. Plus, you show you are serious about the school by coming up with something unique here.

I feel like if they didn't want a written option, they would specify that. By giving applicants the option to be creative however they choose to be, they are letting everyone speak for themselves. You could be a banker who's also a published poet...sending in a written poem could be creative for you and still shows Adcoms another side of you.

Bottom line: Do what works best for you and your application. If you're creative in your own right, Adcoms will see that regardless which medium you choose for this essay.

I suppose the application only required us to upload a scanned copy of the official transcript online at this stage?

Hi, I am submitting a ppt as well. If you save your ppt as a pdf you can upload it if it's smaller than 600 kb. As it is not my case, I am going to mail a USB to Stern.

How come this forum is so quiet? Is it just fewer people applying to Stern? :?
Also: any idea when they do their off-campus interviews in India? According to the website they have intl hub interviews in March- does that mean I wouldn't hear back about a final decision until April-May? That's ridiculously late for a first round application- and means I'd have to do all R2 apps (and probably hear about them before Stern too!)

Hi rgupta87,

I'm a reapp and although I didn't get an interview invite last year I remember reading that the NYU off campus in India was ard end of Jan. It's a large hub for them so I doubt they'd delay it too much.

I guess interviews are held in India in the month of March. Stern is probably quite particular about applicants visiting the campus in New York for interviews.

In case I get an interview invitation, I would likely travel to NYC rather than wait until March.

How long does it take to hear back from Stern? Is it possible to receive a notification in December or would January be more realistic?

Hello guys, I was just wondering if there is an exact time on Monday by which the applications must be submitted. Browsing on the website I couldn't find any detail about time. Is it reasonable to assume end-of-day EST? I am not concerned by my application, only by my recommenders!

I'd presume it's the same as it was at the "normal" deadline:
"Online applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time on the day of the deadline."
