Hello, my name is Kyle and I've decided to take the plunge into the MBA arena.
I've been working in the commercial Real Estate industry the last three years specializing Net Lease Investments Nationally.
I will be starting GMAT prep this coming January and I've already ordered the following
1.
The Official Guide for GMAT Review
2.
Manhattan GMAT Complete Strategy Guide Set
I will be studying the in's and outs of the above books and plan to get a one on one tutor (I was thinking of doing the Kaplan one on one 25 hours) beginning February in hopes of taking my first test in April (and possibly a second test in June).
I'm a little intimidated by the test as Math was my major weakness in HS and College but here goes nothing. If someone could please help, I'm looking for advice on tutor companies (Kaplan?) and time frames for studying with the April test period in mind (or any advice on books, studying, etc...)
Your help is greatly appreciated and I hope to explore this site more as I progress
Dear
kdwight,
I see you posted almost a month ago and, oddly, got no responses. I'm happy to give you a response.
First of all, the
OG is must --- good thing you got that. The
MGMAT books are just about the best prep source in print --- I highly recommend those as well.
Most of the other sources in print, we would give them mixed reviews at best:
https://magoosh.com/gmat/2012/barrons-gm ... ok-review/https://magoosh.com/gmat/2012/kaplan-new ... ok-review/https://magoosh.com/gmat/2012/princeton- ... ok-review/https://magoosh.com/gmat/2012/petersons- ... ok-review/You have a little over 3 months to the GMAT, so here's a GMAT tailored for folks who feel good about verbal but want math help:
https://magoosh.com/gmat/2012/3-month-gm ... h-focused/Right at the top of that article, you'll see links to the other three versions of the plan --- use your own judgment about what might be best for you.
At the top, just above my picture, you will see a bar and the link on the left is "All Posts" --- you click on that, you can search math articles. There are tons of facts and strategies on that free blog that you may find helpful.
Finally, I will recommend
Magoosh itself --- the entire service costs considerably less than the price of the
MGMAT set, and I would say our questions are every bit as good as
MGMAT questions (and, therefore, considerably better than many of the other questions I see floating around in this forum!) We provide 200+ lesson videos, with all the content and strategy you need for success on the GMAT. We provide email support for any question in our own material or in the official material.
Here's practice PS question:
https://gmat.magoosh.com/questions/2613Here's a practice DS question:
https://gmat.magoosh.com/questions/967When you submit your answer to these, the next page will have a complete video explanation. Each one of our 800+ practice questions has its own video explanation, for accelerated learning.
Please let me know if you have any questions on any of this.
