Carlson (U of Minnesota) 2013 - Calling All MBA Applicants

I got a UPS Shipment Notification email that describes the contents as a "FT MBA Admit Binder." No other description. Not sure if this is from Carlson or another school I applied to? It says the delivery date is January 14th. Anyone else get an email like that? Seems weird it wouldn't arrive until Monday if they were mailed earlier in the week.

I'm guessing this came from a different school, if you guys didn't get that email.

I got my packet in the mail today. It was delivered by USPS. There's not a lot of new information. It includes a cover letter, scholarship certificate if applicable, a poster version of the art print and a "next's steps" outline. I'm in Wisconsin, btw. The Carlson UpClose weekend is April 5-6 with them footing the airfare, up to $500.

Congratulations to everyone who received admittance and scholarships. Are you matriculating, when you have also been accepting to more "prestigious" schools?

I have been invited to interview via Skype on Wednesday. Any particular things I should look out for?

Personally I'm over the whole "prestigious" school thing. I know tier 1 programs are very good, but I think I can accomplish exactly what I want to, if not more, at Carlson. If you want to work for a Fortune 500 company, what better school than Carlson? I think Carlson is a sweet spot in terms of MBA value.

The only thing I would note about the interview is that they will ask behavioral interview questions, so go over some of those if you're rusty.

Has anyone else been accepted, but not received their packet yet? Im right here in Minneapolis, so I'm not sure why I don't have it yet...

I have not received my packet yet, either. Chicago. On Monday I received a congratulations card that included the phrase "if you haven't made your decision yet...". If I don't receive the packet in today's mail, I'm going to send them an e-mail.

That's weird.. I'm in Chicago & I got my packet last Thursday and then the card this Monday...

I am applying to carlson by the Feb 1 deadline. Does anybody here for sure knows whether Carlson accepts WES evaluated transcripts? (I am an international applicant, so I have opted for WES)

I just got an interview call. Can anybody share his/her interview experience? I may get some tips.

I believe the best way to prepare for the interview will be to understand your strengths and weaknesses and have tangible examples which exhibit that. I would be prepared to answer questions such as, "When was a time when you were challenged? And, how did you prevail?" I had a question like that come up. Also be prepared to give a run down of your resume. Be careful to not spend too much time on this topic. I went through my resume quickly yet thoroughly and asked my interviewer if they would like me to expand on anything as I went through it. Carlson is really looking for candidates which are a good fit with the program and with the student population. It is important that you will be successful at the school for more reasons than just academics.

Thanks HPmba2015! I agree with you that one needs to exhibit his/her personality well to the interviewer. And that can be done well through confidence and body language. When it comes to actually answering such questions, I guess that won't be a problem for someone who's already this far in the admissions journey. Its the final lap
