I wanted to crack 600 today - but to my demise i was awarded a rather pathetic 510 Q36 V24 -
The road has been long and tiring one - and it still continues.
I work at an investment discount brokerage firm - and i opted to work 12-8pm shifts so i can devout more time to study.
my routine for the last 4 months have been as follows:
Weekdays:
915am get up - have breakfast get ready -
10am-11:30pm - study verbal
1130-12pm drive to work
12pm-8pm - work
8pm-820pm drive to gym
820pm-930 workout
930-945pm drive to home
10-1130pm study quant
1130-130pm relax.
Weekends: study for 4-5 hours
my weakness is quant - although today i scored the highest in quant ever - but my verbal went down - normally im scoring 30-35 range on verbal - but today i dont know what happened... i started over analyzing things and with some questions i didnt bother to check the ans. again... i guess that butchered my Verbal score..
I used the following material to study -
OG 12th ed.
Quant/Verbal 2nd ed.
Gmat Pill
Manhattan Guides.
The first time i did a practice exam just blankly without studying anything - i scored 400. Second attempt - 520 Third 530 (highest) - i just three exams altogether. In, addition, I did GMAT CLUB's all practice timed questions and questions on Gmat pill and other forums and scored reasonably well on Verbal - Quant so/so.
I thought i did pretty well in verbal today and was hoping it will push my score above 600.. but it wasnt meant to be..
this is my first exam in the last decade where i've failed miserably... at the moment i am feeling down -
i do plan to write the GMAT again - i must crack the 600 target if i have any chance to get into a decent b. school - my GPA and work/volunteer experience and referrals are good enough to push me through.
i was wondering if the pros on this forum could guide me somewhat as to how i should change my studying strategy? i was thinking perhaps purchase some online courses that detail quant and verbal more than the books i have.
i am giving myself two days break and plan to start studying again this coming Tuesday.
any advice will be greatly appreciated.
thanks
