Answer = B = 6%

Say Cost of eggs = Cost of apples = 100

Total = 200

New egg cost = 110

New apple cost = 102

New total = 110 + 102 = 212

Percentage increase

\(= \frac{212 - 200}{200} * 100\)

= 6%

Re: A dozen eggs and 10 pounds of apples are currently at the sa [#permalink]
i used numbers to solve this one...
price for eggs = 1000$
price for 10 pounds = 1000$
price for 1 pound = 100$
new price for 1 pound = 102 -> for 10 - 1020
new price for dozen of eggs = 1100

total new price for dozen eggs and 10 pounds = 2120.

this is 120 more than earlier.
120/2000 = 12/200 = 6/100. or 6% more.

Re: A dozen eggs and 10 pounds of apples are currently at the sa [#permalink]
As same price
Let one dozen eggs=100
ten pounds of apples=100
So total amount 200
Eggs price rises 10%=100+10=110
Apples price rises 2%=100+2=102
Rises total amount 212
Just rises amount 12
So cost price will 12*100/200=6%
