I selected A 1/52 :( ... Really difficult to understand how blackjack is being played with 13 cards..

It isn't...13 Cards in each..Read the question while skipping the bracket stuff..Total 52

Bunuel, if the question were about odds, the correct answer would be 1/12. Is that right?

Hi Temurkhon,
When talking about odds (in favour) , it is 1 to 12 (or 1:12) as it measures the likelihood of an event occurring posited against not occurring.

You have 13 cards of each suit, hence 4*13 = 52 cards. You have one ace of each suit, probability that first card is ace: 4/52 = 1/13.

This would change if the question asked e.g. "what is the probability that the first card is an ace of spades"

Solution:

Since there are 13 spades and one of them is the ace of spades, the probability that the spade card is an ace is 1/13.

(Note: We assume that by the “odds”, they mean the “probability” (since odds and probability are not quite the same.))

Answer: C
