Hey hern007,

When did you hear from the AdCom regarding round 2? The admissions reps I spoke to said all decisions would be released on April 1, but I have been hearing that some people were accepted already and invited to interview. Not sure how it works.


Not sure which admission rep you heard that from, but Stern does a semi-rolling process, and their rounds' notification dates are more like deadlines you'll hear by. That means they're free to send out initial decisions (ding, waitlist, interview) before the R2 deadline of April 1, but you're guaranteed an initial response on or before April 1.

I had about the R2 waitlist yesterday. I am also seeing that R1 people are being pulled off the waitlist for interviews. So it looks like its completely a rolling process.

I'm in NYC because of another interview. I had the chance to talk to some current students and they usually admit 4 people from my country. They've invited 4 people last round and admitted 2 of them. This round, they've already invited other 4 and have already interviewed (and admitted) one of them. I visited the campus today and there was a lot of internationals interviewing. Admissions do a good job trying to do a good mix of internationals, so I would speculate that they will admit 4 people from my country again.

I would advice you to do the same as me: try not to think much about that, knowing that the chances are low now.

rainfall, we are in the same boat. Stern admits 6-8 people from my country each year, so sometimes it's like a lucky draw...Btw, a guy in my country received an invite to the hub. So I guess there is still hope. Let the waiting game continue.

Don't worry about it. NYU runs a much later timeline than other schools. Their April 1 date is a notification date, not a result date like at other schools. That means that you can be dinged, WL-ed without interview, or invited to interview at any time through April 1. If you get invited to interview close to April 1, you'll be able to interview during the month of April.


aerien, thanks for the input. Stern really should do something to streamline the process and show some respect to the applicants. In my country, R1 applicants were combined with R2 applicants for the hub interview. Really it makes no point to submit in R1... If Stern wants to establish a more globalized brand, they should really increase efforts on ex-US admissions. Btw, NYU just joint-ventured with East Normal University and launched a Shanghai-New York Univerisity in the CBD of Shanghai. I really hope to hear the steps coming on MBA admissions...

Hi all, I have been following this thread for a few weeks now.
I am an international student, applied in R2, just got invited to interview for Stern's Summer Start. The interview date is March 28th. I saw one other post about the summer start interview but any others out there?
The website gives a one page description on the program and how people are selected but I can't find much else on the program. I just learned about this when I got the invite so still trying to figure it all out...

There is a Hampton Inn Soho at 54 Watts St. in Manhattan that was just under $200.00 a night when I went for my interview. The price might have gone up some since then but it is only a $7.50 cab ride with tip to Stern.
