Can anyone explain what is the problem with choice E??
Dear
pariearth,
I'm happy to help with this.
The first thing I'll say is --- this question is atrocious. I would give the question-writer a grade of
F for writing such a poor SC question. This question falls well short of the standards held by the GMAT in any number of ways. Studying questions of this quality will not serve your well.
The correct spelling of the crucial word is
ideally --- this word is consistently misspelled in the text above. I would say
(E) is abysmal because the word "
ideally" appears twice --- that's not simply wrong: that's embarrassing! The other "wrong" answers are not as clear ---- I could see an argument for one or two of the other answers besides
(A). What this question is testing is astonishingly narrow. As a general rule, if all the different answer choices in a SC question do is slide one word around from place to place, that's not a very strong question at all.
You see, there are all kinds of GMAT prep sources out there, and all kinds of GMAT SC practice questions. Some are superb --- for example,
MGMAT consistently produces excellent material. Some are mediocre, and some are just plain bad. Don't naively assume that every practice question is as good as every other.
Here's a high quality practice question:
